From: vince@offshore.ai (Vincent Cate) Newsgroups: sci.space.tech Subject: Simulation of reentry heat NNTP-Posting-Host: 207.42.133.230 Message-ID: <9186edb5.0301021421.6129f2a@posting.google.com> I have just added another feature to my simulator. It can now model the heat of reentry. Basically the shock wave compresses the air by a certain amount and compressed gasses get hotter. It is more complicated, and I have a full web page of explanation and links in "spacetethers.com/shockwave.html". There are limits to the accuracy of this, but for the lower temperatures that my dream rocket reenters at, this seems good enough. So the simulator can now do tethers, projectiles, rockets, atmosphere, drag, and reentry heating. Again, it is a Java applet, so it is free and easy to run and the source is posted on the site. The site is http://spacetethers.com/ The last three examples, with the word "reentry", are showing reentry simulations. Just click on one and then "start simulation". Any requests for features? :-) -- Vince ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vincent Cate Space Tether Enthusiast vince@offshore.ai http://spacetethers.com/ Anguilla, East Caribbean http://offshore.ai/vince ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You have to take life as it happens, but you should try to make it happen the way you want to take it. - German Proverb
